Dell, seriously? Only a 3-cell battery and just 2.5 hours of life? That's really poor for a laptop.

It’s frustrating when you can’t afford a better laptop. The internet can be cruel.

are you serious ?, Lev-oh-no & Dell-boy machines exist. This is particularly flimsy though. Without the back cover on it almost goes floppy if held close to a corner 😬🙈 But it does have 2 ram slots and a 2.5" expansion option though 👀 unlike a lot of others TBF.. Good job this was free salvage eitherway!

Does leaving the battery plugged in all the time reduce its life?

Can I install an ethernet card in the 15 3511 and use a docking station? I do this with my Surface 4 to get faster ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

I bought the Inspiron 15 3511 i7, but the battery runs out fast. Anyone else facing this?

Same issue with the i5 8GB version. Battery lasts 2 hours max, and it heats up just from web browsing. Waiting for Dell’s response.

GMane, Try removing Dell Support Assist — it can cause crashes and overheating.

I also have a battery life problem, only 2 hours even when just browsing.

Setup was slow with factory OS. Needed to install Intel disk driver from USB before disk detected. Used USB dongle for ethernet as Wi-Fi didn't work during setup. After reinstall and drivers, system runs well.

The keyboard isn't backlit. How can I fix this? Does it have a backlit keyboard at all?

Never buy Dell laptops, their products are bad. I'm an Inspiron 3511 user.

It starts at strange times, overheats, and the battery lasts only 2 hours 40 minutes. That's too low. My system is new, and I'm worried it won't last a year.

To get longer battery life, go to Settings > Power & Battery and adjust settings. I set mine for best battery performance and get over 6 hours with good screen brightness and performance.

There is a lot of negativity here. If you want a high-end computer, you have to pay. I paid $380, added 8GB RAM, and it runs great. The only bad thing was 'S' mode, which I disabled with 3 clicks.
